Mylochromis sp."guentheri mbenji"

Mylochromis sp."guentheri mbenji" is living in sandy environments and in the intermediate zones from rocks to sand. This species can be found near the Maleri Islands and also in the neighbourhood of Mbenji Island.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to 19 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow a little taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 21 cm, females grow to about 14 cm.

Mylochromis sp."guentheri mbenji" is searching in the sand for food by pushing its head with force into the bottom. They take a big bite of sand and jig this through their gills so that everything eatable stays in their mouth. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix.

You can best keep this species in a large tank with a lot of swimming space. It`s a quiet, peaceful cichlid which can be hold best with other quiet species from equal environments.
